                Nicht ganz sicher ist das nur von Gramm. belegte ai. anō `nicht' (= gr. ἄνευ) heranzuziehen, auch osset. änä `ohne'; Verwandtschaft mit lat. sine usw. (Meillet BSL. 30, Nr. 89, 81) mag bestehen, doch keineswegs sicher.
